Dust off your legwarmers and headband, get out your favorite tube socks, dress in your wildest 80s style and resolve to get physical in 2017. Run, Walk or break dance to the finish line and afterwards stay for a totally radical good time at Fitness World for the After Party, Awards Presentation, Music, Food and more.

Your support positively impacts the lives of area adults functioning at low literacy levels.
1 out of every 3 adults in Florence County is functionally illiterate. This means that they are unable to fill out a job application, read instructions on a prescription label, or help their children with homework. Illiteracy not only creates a barrier for the illiterate adult, but also for their families, as illiteracy often passes from generation to generation. ”. The Florence Area Literacy Council offers classes for basic literacy, English literacy, the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) preparation and Pre-GED preparation. Adult learners have the opportunity to work with a tutor, in small groups, as well as computer lab instruction ensuring that they receive the maximum benefit from their instruction time at the Council.

The Olanta Lions Club is excited to announce that its 2018 Roaring 5K is going to be a TRAIL RUN at Lynches River County Park near Olanta and Florence!

The main focus of our Race/Walk is on Diabetes Prevention. Remaining active prevents many health-related problems. Diabetes is also a leading cause of blindness and other vision problems.

The Olanta Lions Club also purchases glasses for those in our immediate service area who otherwise could not afford them.

Catawba Nation 5k River Run 2018

A timed 5k race located on the old Catawba Indian Reservation.

Catawba Indian Nation Wellness Warriors will host the first timed 5k race on the Reservation. The course will be part pavement and part trail. The course begins with a slight hill starting at the tribal government facility and will proceed towards the scenic Catawba River. The trail portion is affiliated with the Carolina Thread Trail, which runs parallel to the river.

Post-race refreshments, music and an awards ceremony will follow the race.

T-Shirts: To be guaranteed a race t-shirt, you must register no later than April 17th at 11:59 p.m.

Registration Fees:

$25.00 until April 10th (Online & Paper registration)

$30.00 April 21st by 7:30am (Race Day). After April 17th, only paper paper registration is available. Also, after April 17th, the only methods of payment will be cash or check. Checks must be made payable to: Wellness Warriors

Pre-Race Packet Pick-up: 996 Avenue of the Nations, Rock Hill, SC 29730 between 3pm - 7pm

All race proceeds will be donated to the Spirit Sprinter's, which is our children's running program.

Color-Me ArtFields 5K & Walk 2018

ColorMe ArtFields 5K Walk/Run is not your typical road race -- "Be the Canvas!" The race will begin and end with a color splash celebration in beautiful downtown Lake City, South Carolina on the Village Green! Participants are encouraged to come early Saturday morning and enjoy a relaxing yoga experience and short Zumba class. For those just coming out to watch the race, bring your chairs and enjoy watching all the fun. Don't miss out, come and be a part of this colorful ArtFields event!

In order to continue a beautiful day at ArtFields, it is suggested that participants bring towels, washcloths, baby wipes, etc. to clean off after the event. Registration begins at 7:15 AM on Race Day at The Bean Market and the race starts at 8:30 AM in front of the Lake City Chamber of Commerce.

All early registration runners are provided a ColorMe ArtFields "Goodie Bag" with a T-Shirt, a pair of ArtFields shades, and specialty coupons. Runners can pick up Race Day Packets Friday, April 20, 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, at the Bean Market 111 Henry Street, Lake City, SC 29560. Early registration runners can also pick up packets at Registration beginning at 7:15 on Race Day. Late registration will be held the morning of the race from 7:15 AM-8:30 AM. Additional items will be on sale the day of the race.

CARE House of the Pee Dee is hosting the 6th Annual 5k/10k/Kids Fun Run for Child Abuse Prevention Education & Support

CARE House of the Pee Dee is hosting the 6th Annual 5k/10k/Kids Fun Run, formally known as the Carver C.A.P. Run. This Run was started in 2011 after the death of a local 3 year old, Tylashia Grant, who was subjected to physical abuse and neglect. This Run is done in memory of the sweet life that was lost, as well as every child that is subjected to abuse. All proceeds go to continuing the work of the CARE House of the Pee Dee.

CAPES (Child Abuse Prevention Education & Support) for Kids Run is asking you to take a stand against child abuse!

Check in will begin at 7am the day of the race. Race timing done by Simply Timing.

Hey runners! Mark your calendars for this new race. The Tiger Trot 5k will be held at WIlson High School on May 18th at 9am. Preregistration entry fee will be $20 and same day registration will be $25. Each runner will receive a t-shirt and the top three finishers and top three of each age group will receive medals/awards. This run will be mostly a trail run. Wilson High School has a new trail this year. Come and be a part of this great race. All proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fribosis Foundation. Thank you in advance for the help!!! This race is being put together by the Wilson High School Civitans Club.

Run for the Heroes 5K, 10K, & Fun Walk 2018

Come join us in remembering our deceased military who died while on active duty in our armed services. The annual 5K & 10K race and 1 mile Fun Walk honor the men and women who have given their lives to preserve the freedoms of our great country. We also recognize the current sacrifices of our Active and Reserve personnel and their families. It is a cherished Memorial Day event that incorporates national pride while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. There will be a military tribute prior to the race and all registered participants will receive a “Red, White, and Blue” pancake breakfast immediately following the race. (Non-race participants are welcome to enjoy breakfast for a voluntary, nominal donation.) Runners and walkers of all experience levels are invited to come out and enjoy this Memorial Day event! Military discounts are available. Proceeds go to benefit the parish school and the American Red Cross.

We are excited to announce the 1st annual Run for Hope 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the Realtor Association of the Greater Pee Dee. We would like to invite you to join us for this special day. This event, benefitting the New Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Homeless Shelter, is raising funds to provide emergency shelter and services for the local homeless men, women, and children in the Florence Community.

The New Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Shelter was named after Courtney McGinnis Graham for her tireless efforts to help the homeless. Courtney's passion and selfless love for the homeless was evident as she was used to bring light, life and hope to those in need. She provided a warm meal, safe shelter, or words of encouragement to those in need. Homeless children gripped her heart, and her persistent tenacity always helped to find them a place to stay. While she ministered to their needs, Courtney longed to have a place for them to call home. Her ministry to homeless men, women and children continues to be an inspiration to our community and her vision surpassed her life. In her memory, the Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Shelter was opened October 17, 2016. Daily the shelter serves 30 men, women and children.

Most citizens of the Florence Community do not realize that homelessness is an issue. Each day there are over 400 homeless men, women and children in the Florence community. Of the homeless population over 100 are unsheltered,. Many are women and children. The Community Shelter offers a safe shelter, food, clothing and case management services to those that come seeking a place to rest their head.

**The race will be held Saturday, June 23, 2017 at 500 Second Loop Rd., Florence (Post Office/Margaritas Parking Lot). Registration will begin at 7:45 am. with the run/walk starting at 9:00 am.

Finisher medals will be given to all participants. Overall finisher male /female will be given and age division awards will be given at the end of the race. Age divisions will be 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 and older.

**Packet Pick-up will be at the Realtor Association located at 1375 Celebration Blvd. on June 22 from 5-7 pm (Use doors on backside of building)

Thank you to all who participate in this wonderful community event and for showing your love and support for the Courtney McGinnis Graham Community Homeless Shelter. It truly means so much to so many!

2017 Run Like A Nut 2018

Run like a Nut is 3 races, a half marathon, 10k, 5k. The sponsor is South Carolina Education Lottery.

Half Marathon Course is now USATF certified.

CASH Prizes to top 3 male and female finishers in Half Marathon. 1st- $100 2nd- $50 3rd- $25

The courses are very flat and fast as it winds mostly through median divided, established neighborhoods near downtown Florence. The run is part of the Downtown Development Corporation's Annual Pecan Festival http://www.florencedowntown.com/pecan-festival/.

The race kicks off at the Fitness Forum, 2 blocks from downtown, so the participants can use the locker room facilities and walk directly to the festival once the race is concluded. There is no fee for the festival.

Medals to all Half Marathon participants. T-shirts guaranteed to all pre-registered runners and awards to overall male and female and masters as well as top 3 in each age group.
